The winner of the Grand Chopin Prize of Roma 2011 competition, Dmitry Masleev came to Monaco on October 10, 2017 for a piano recital. The "Roma International Piano Competition", sponsored by the Cuomo Foundation, saw its intuition confirmed 4 years later when the Russian virtuoso went on to win the renowned Tchaikovsky competition. Founded in 1958 and held every four years, the Moscow contest is among the most prestigious classical music competitions in the world.
During an interview, the 28-year-old pianist praised the Foundation's sponsorship of "Roma" piano competition and stressed the importance of such actions in the becoming of young musicians. At that time, Roman competition constituted Mr Masleev’s first major international exposure.
In Monaco, the young pianist performed at the Théâtre des variétés in the presence of H.E. Mr. Alexandre Orlov, Russian Ambassador to France and the Principality of Monaco. Fond of Romanticism, he performed the works by Haydn, Schubert and Tchaikovsky.
